Position Overview
Shaw Industries is looking for an EHS Technician to support facility EHS operations by completing critical tasks designed to promote compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety regulations, Shaw Management System (SMS), requirements, and general industry Best Practice.

Responsibilities:
Performs routine safety and environmental inspections. Prepares and submits detailed reports to department managers for corrective action to be taken or maintenance to be performed. Follows-up to ensure proper action has been taken
Work with EHS Manager and Training Department to accomplish goals of all SAFE system programs and Environmental Handbook
Be an EHS expert and resource for plant Safety Champions, facility ergonomic committees as well as Safety Leadership Organization.
Maintain all documentation and required metrics for any Safety recognition. Reports any concerns to Safety Leadership Organization
Record safety and environmental data and compile it into reports for Management Team
Serves as a source of information on health and safety issues to hourly employees
Coordinate and develop training & drills for PEO Team
Conduct New Hire Safety Training per SMS requirements
Partner with Maintenance and Plant Engineering to ensure EHS work orders are addressed
Maintain and monitor SDS’s in the SAFETEC system and partner with plant training to ensure effective training is held and associates are educated appropriately
Provide Contractor Safety reviews, issue non-routine work permits, Hot Work permits, Confine Space Entry permits, etc. as needed to support plant maintenance functions
Serve an active role in the incident investigation process and root cause analysis
Maintain paperwork for shipments of facility non-hazardous, hazardous and universal chemical waste.
All other responsibilities as assigned by EHS manager
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google
OSHA 30-hour course completion-or position in EHS with understanding of basic OSHA requirements
Preferred:
Associate degree or 2-3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment where safety was at least 40% of job
DOT Hazardous Waste Training completion
Visible Emission Certification
Familiar with Federal, State and OSHA regulations
Working conditions:
Conditions involve working around equipment that emits loud noises, hot and damp environments and forklift traffic. All safety training and PPE is provided.
Must be able to work in hot/cold environments; work alternating schedules/shifts to cover plant needs; ability to climb several flights of stairs; ability to lift/carry 20 pounds; wear all required PPE.
