Shaw Industries Inc Maintenance Engineer in Aiken, South Carolina
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the support of all maintenance work in all areas of the plant with emphasis on completing the work safely. The position plays a key role in effectively controlling cost and improving efficiencies . The Maintenance Engineer performs duties with minimal supervision and direction. Individual is required to work with many different departments in maintenance and also with Operations. This job requires flexible hours based on the needs of the Maintenance Department. The Maintenance Engineer establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with all personnel in both maintenance and Operations. The Maintenance Engineer attends weekly employee meetings to discuss safety, quality, and policy requirements, and ensures appropriate action is taken when employees' behavior needs to improve
Comply with procedures found in SMS and Job Requirement Books.
Perform all job duties using safe work methods.
Comply with Corporate Absenteeism and Tardiness Policy.
Work normally scheduled days adhering to starting and stopping times. Work overtime as required.
Communicate and enforce standards and expectations for all shift associates.
Perform other duties as assigned by Department Manager.
Manage Site PdM efforts. Includes supervising PdM Technicians and maintaining PdM database.
Complete capital and expense projects as assigned by Plant Engineer.
Manage MARS work order system and HQMS for the Maintenance Department. (Administrator Role).
Lead effort to organize and maintain the Engineering drawings.
Lead effort to document TPM metrics.
Serve as a troubleshooting resource for Plant equipment.
Develop and maintain Preventive Maintenance (PM) records for operating areas.
Manages the scheduling of the PM’s with the operating area leadership.
Manages the process of keeping an adequate supply of critical spare parts.
Initiate outside service purchase requisitions and coordinate execution with contractors for such items as component repairs, on-site maintenance, equipment cleaning, etc.
Attend weekly scheduling meetings in each operating area.
Serve on 6 Sigma, quality, safety, and Maintenance teams as required.
Assist in training efforts of area personnel through procedure writing/modifications, conducting sessions, bringing in outside resources, purchasing training materials and equipment, etc.
With the HS&E department and Maintenance leadership, investigate improvements in personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensure safety and departmental policies and procedures are followed.
Initiate and document the initial investigation of safety and environmental issues.
Lead effort to identify standard work and establish tiered communications for Maintenance Associates.
Work with operators to identify unsafe acts and conditions.
Support reward and recognition program based on criteria related to safety, quality and productivity.
Actively support and participate in the implementation of SQS, TPM.
Actively support and participate in achieving SAFE certification. Work with the Maintenance Planner and Supervisors to ensure the Maintenance Department is following the TPM process.
Drive the energy reduction efforts of the plant.
Manage building automation systems.
Create and maintain PM’s and operating procedures for utility equipment.

Four year degree in Engineer ing. (P refer Mechanical or Electrical )
Must have at least one (1) year experience in a manufacturing environment or it’s equivalent.
Interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills.
Implementation of preventive machinery maintenance program preferred.
8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
