Twisting Manufacturing Supervisor - Night Shift
To supervise the shift in the Twisting Department.
Comply with department Work Instruction and Standard Operating Procedures found in SMS manual.
Perform all job duties using safe work methods.
Comply with corporate absenteeism and tardiness policy.
Comply with Shaw Environmental System (SES) procedures.
Complies with SAFE System procedures.
Work normally scheduled days adhering to starting and stopping times. Work overtime as required.
Communicate and enforce standards and expectations for all shift associates.
Perform other duties as assigned by Department Manager.
Communicate verbally with the exiting supervisor about any unacceptable conditions and allow enough time for the exiting supervisor to correct the unacceptable conditions.
Check mailbox and email for special instructions left by Department Manager to be carried out on the shift, or for any other information concerning the Supervisor or employees of the assigned shift. Check log book daily.
Inform affected employees of any changes in job assignments.
Coordinate with Extrusion and Heatset Departments to ensure proper flow of yarn through Twisting Department.
Meet with employees during daily pre-shift to cover safety, quality, and other information concerning Twisting Department. Ensure all employee sign-off sheets are completed and turned in to Department Manager.
Ensure all training is completed following SMS training procedures. Evaluate training with trainers and trainees and document on training check sheets.
Complete any necessary change forms to transfer an employee from an assigned shift to another, to move an employee from one job to another.
Attempt to cover open jobs, vacations, or absences on assigned shifts through the use of call-ins or through the use of operators willing to cover from other shifts. Use Voluntary Assignment Form for operators covering each other's job as needed.
Complete Kronos and address exceptions on a daily basis.
Use any means available to determine first quality yarn, i.e., advice of other Supervisors, Department Managers, or Q.E. personnel.
If a mix is found, ensure it is handled according to the procedure for mixes.
Prepare to work any additional hours on other shifts as needed to work on special assignments as required by Department Manager.
Daily collect all forms from technicians and forward them to Senior Process Engineer (Twisting).
Follow up on Weekly Twister P.M. Work Orders. Ensure that all forms are completed.
Instruct Twisting Operators to floss as needed. Heatset Supervisor will notify Twisting Supervisor as single-end contamination is first noticed in the Heatset creels.
If notified by an operator of nonconforming yarn, handled according to the procedure. Have technicians repair any mechanical problems causing yarn defects.
Update Twisting Daily Production Sheet (TW-2200-17).
Coordinate all Twister Changes (Setup, Startup, Merge Change, Walk down & Rundown according to procedures)
Must possess good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Actively participate in the PRIDE and FIBER Processes.
Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.
Plant 78 is a tobacco-free facility.
Complete the orientation training session.
Complete job requirements training as defined in the Training Program Manual.
Complete PRIDE Training.
Complete FIBER Training
Complete Management System Training.
Complete MSDS/Chemical Right To Know Training.
Safety & Security Requirements:
Maintain a safe and clean work area at all times.
Report any unsafe conditions to supervision.
Report all accidents, no matter how slight, to supervision immediately.
Wear personal protective equipment at all times while in the designated areas.
Comply with all plant and department safety rules and regulations.
12 Hr rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Act Calendar, shift starts PM, days change only
