Technical Manager

Position Overview

The Technical Manager leads and coordinates plant technical resources to drive process improvement, process optimization, and product development.

Essential Functions and Duties:

  • Leads re-engineering and redesign efforts, including the development of capital/expense projects, to support technical innovation.

  • Evaluates, approves, and controls the raw materials used in the manufacturing of color concentrates, Turf yarns, and solution dyed fiber products.

  • Sustains and improves the color evaluation process used in the production of solution dyed fibers.

  • Evaluates and monitors the performance of additives in fiber spinning processes to ensure that product quality and process performance expectations are met.

  • Oversees changes to raw materials and formulations to improve spinning performance.

  • Takes action to address issues related to additive performance.

  • Develops concepts, designs, and economics into viable capital projects.

  • Manages the creation of components, specifications, and formulas for solution dyed concentrates.

  • Manages the creation of components for raw materials and yarns used in Turf products. Coordinates and develops MTRs (trials) for Turf products.

  • Coordinates and directs cost reduction and process improvement projects.

  • Leads the effort to understand the relationship between materials and processes. Promotes discovery through interaction with engineers and others to develop and test hypotheses. Directs the transition of ideas into tangible resources.

  • Coordinates management and approval of all Plant 70/86 Process Specifications.

  • Coordinates and manages processes to measure and improve color performance across the Fibers Division including adherence to the Color Policy, periodic equipment calibration, maintaining NetProfiler and tile sets at each facility, data transfer to Infinity, iColor license management, and correction of iColor issues.

Education and Experience:

Must have Four (4) year B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Textiles, or Business Related degree from a recognized university or college.

Preferred: 5-7 years of experience in Color Compounding / Extrusion Operations or equivalent experience in related field.

Preferred: Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt.

Must possess good interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
