CAD Engineer Intern

Position Overview

Company Overview:

Shaw Sports Turf, a leader in sports turf manufacturing, is seeking a driven and detail-oriented CAD Engineer Intern to support our expanding project team. This internship is an opportunity for students currently pursuing a degree, diploma, or certificate in engineering, design, or a related field to gain hands-on experience in CAD design and project management within a fast-paced environment.

Job Summary: The CAD Engineer Intern will work closely with our CAD team, assisting in the creation of 2D renderings, shop drawings, and quantity takeoffs for sports fields at all levels, including Professional, College, High School, and Parks & Recreation. This role requires effective communication, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, the intern will learn to balance design accuracy with timeliness to meet project demands and support the delivery of a high-quality customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assist with creating conceptual renderings for presentations to clients, the sales team, and distributor partners.

· Support the preparation of detailed shop drawings to be reviewed and approved by clients.

· Help prepare Tufting Instructions for the manufacturing process based on approved designs.

· Perform quantity takeoffs to determine the turf requirements for various projects.

· Gain knowledge of the different components and specifications of turf products.

· Review project plans, specifications, and scopes of work to support accurate project design.

· Develop an understanding of sports field layouts, dimensions, and rules for various sports.

· Identify and communicate any potential discrepancies between field designs and project budgets.

Skills and Abilities:

· Experience or coursework in AutoCAD and Graphic Design.

· Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Requirements:

· Currently enrolled in a degree, diploma, or certificate program in Engineering, Drafting, Design, or a related field.

· Basic knowledge of AutoCAD (prior coursework or project experience preferred).

Internship Benefits:

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
