Position Objective:

The Shaw Contract design manager is provides leadership and is responsible for the design development of carpet, hardwood and resilient products that give foundation to space and support people within it. Our studios human-centered approach to design takes customer insights and interprets concepts into finished product. We believe that the process guides us to action. Primary Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with Shaw Contract Design Director of Healthcare & Education, implement product strategy and introduction plan for target markets. Provide leadership and direction for designers focused on the development of hard surface products, working across functional teams and with external design firms/suppliers.

  • Develop innovative solutions that respond to customer insights and business needs. Responsible for product design and development for hard surface flooring from concept to launch. This includes concept development, prototyping, color development, manufacturing production set-up, supporting the execution of product launch materials and sales training.

  • Domestic travel for market research and feedback, customer product presentations, and participation in industry design and trade shows. International travel to work on product development with manufacturing partners, to gather market research, connect with global sales/marketing teams and attend customer product presentations.

  • Develop creative approaches to all tasks with proven ability to independently manage multiple development projects, exhibit excellent time management skills and work in a highly collaborative team environment. This includes connecting and working in collaboration with marketing, manufacturing, and sales.

  • Foster strategic relationships and work collaboratively with Hard Surface leadership, Shaw Contract design studio and targeted collaborative partners.

  • Demonstrate lateral influence with other internal stakeholders to help with identify opportunities to impact efficiency, innovative solutions, and address product gaps.

  • Engaged in market segments to successfully predict design and color trends ensuring our products meet the ever changing needs of the market.

  • Continuously building relationships with clients and A&D firms through field travel, customer presentations, and site tours.


  • Four year college degree: Interior Design related, Graphic Design, Textile Design, or similar.

  • Minimum of five years of product development experience preferred.

  • Must have excellent knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Nedgraphic design software.

  • Knowledge of commercial products and industry with a design emphasis.

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
