Process Improvement Leader

Position Overview

Shaw Industries is looking for a process improvement engineer to support the operations of Plant WE through process improvement initiatives as identified using Lean methodology. This role will Utilize Six Sigma and Lean Principles as drivers of continuous improvement. Plant WE is a growing facility in Chatsworth, GA which houses many processes in soft surface floorcovering manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic influence for business partners to identify cost opportunities and enhance overall business acumen of team.

• Identify, maintain, and drive cost reduction initiatives for the plants. Establish annual incremental cost reduction plan strategy. Oversee and ensure accurate generation of weekly and monthly POVA.

• Build monthly, quarterly and annual financial projections for the facility. Be able to effectively communicate changes and drivers with Plant and Division leadership.

• Coordinate and communicate Waste initiatives both process & landfill waste.

• Lead efforts to improve waste in the assigned manufacturing processes.

• Prepare capital & expense project proposals (requires CPM training) for new equipment, modifications, and upgrades, including calculating savings and EVA.

• Prepare capital project budget list for the plant on an annual basis.

• Conduct time studies as needed in the various manufacturing areas. Assist in layout changes for the plant or any departments within the plant.

• Must be able to conduct analysis and give recommendations based upon collection of data using reports, observations, and time studies.

• Coach and support development of IE Clerk position.

• Must be able to manage multiple projects and work without close supervision.

Qualifications:

• Four (4) year college degree in Industrial Engineering or similar field required.

• 2+ year experience manufacturing or industrial engineering required.

• Must be Black Belt trained (or willing to attend training).

• Must present information in a professional and user friendly manner.

• Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
