Plant SI (Chickamauga, GA) | Fabricator IV | 1st Shift (7 AM to 3 PM)

Position Overview

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Fabricate, repair, replace, and /or modify parts and equipment used in manufacturing.

I. Essential Duties:

❑ Math - ​basic operations (add/subtract/multiply/divide), fraction/decimals, units, Cartesian coordinates, trigonometry (sine, cosine, tangent, angles, radii)

❑ Basic Shop Skills ​– drill press, horizontal and vertical band saws, tap heads, power tools (drill/driver, port-a-band, reciprocating saw, sander, grinder), hydraulic press

❑ Fabrication ​– CNC plasma table, hydraulic shear, CNC press brake, box and pan brake, sheet roller, ironworker, Beverly shear, lock former, custom jigs and fixtures

❑ Hot Work​ – MIG welding, Oxy-fuel (basic setup and cutting), plasma cutter, stick welder, TIG welding (AC and DC)

❑ Material Handling​ – hoisting and rigging, planning critical moves (with supervisor

assistance), removal and installation of machinery

❑ Print Reading​ – machining and fabrication details including material sizes, specifications, and tolerances; mechanical assembly drawings

❑ Layout​ – rectangular patterns, bolt circles, angles, keyway locations, matching parts, large parts, multiple features, and multiple machine processes

❑ Material Identification ​– hot rolled/cold rolled, carbon steel, stainless steel

❑ Specific Skills: o Planning and executing fabrication jobs o Production set up with Jigs and table clamps

❑ Visualize and develop custom jigs and fixtures for machining and fabrication

❑ Tolerances: o Fabrication - square, level, plumb, layout, and cut dimension ±1/32”, fab

dimension ±1/16”

❑ Interpret mechanical situations to determine the proper course of action and materials needed to accomplish a task.

❑ Be able to distinguish between different types of metals and know which type to use for each application

❑ Have all the tools requested by the supervisor

❑ Perform preventative maintenance as assigned

❑ Maintain a high degree of workmanship and efficiency

❑ Keep work area clean and free of hazards

❑ Know and adhere to all safety policies, rules and regulations

❑ Adhere to normal schedule for starting and stopping unless otherwise directed by

supervisor and department manager

❑ Work seven days when required

II. Non-Essential Duties:

❑ Perform all other related job duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor or

department manager

❑ Perform general housekeeping as assigned

III. Education:

❑ Must have Technical School diplomas or previous OJT

IV. Experience:

❑ Must have four (4) years of work-related experience.

V. Physical Requirements:

❑ Must have good eyesight

❑ Must have good manual dexterity and coordination

❑ Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs

❑ Must be able to stand 40%, Walk 40%, sit 10%, and bend 10% for up to 12 hours per day

❑ Must be able to safely use all power tools and equipment in the machine shop

VI. Other Requirements:

❑ Must have a complete understanding and ability to use using machining equipment,

fabrication, and other shop equipment

❑ Must be mechanically inclined

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
