Position Overview

Purpose / Scope:

Lead and develop Needle Punch teammates to achieve company core metrics by maximizing resources. Provide assistance to department supervisors, hourly personnel, and internal/external customers on a daily basis. Inner communications with the areas we interact; Tape Extrusion, Fiber Extrusion, Beaming, ATY, scrap reclaim, Production Planning, and Technical department.

Ensure maximum safety, quality, efficiency, and machine reliability. Promote a safe work environment. Work with IE & Cost Accounting to maintain cost information and continually reduce overall cost. Helps drive and coordinate LEAN activities, TPM, RPT, and entitlements throughout the department.

Responsibilities:

  • The Secondary Weave and Needlepunch Departments are responsible for maintenance of this procedure.

Definition:

  • This procedure Provides guidance for the Process Engineer that will help meet core metrics.

Requirements:

  • Key Metrics (safety, quality, productivity, cost, and machine reliability), utilize technical expertise and people skills to drive execution of all key metrics, by working with the Safety Manager, HR, NP team, IE, Supervisors, Department Managers, and Planning Manager.

  • Customer relations (internal and external), working and assisting the Supervisors, IE, Kaizen Teams , Technical Manager, Planning Manager, and Teammates.

  • Strategic Planning working with the Supervisors, NP team, IE, and Department Manager.

  • Provide the department with assistance, maintain and develop cost effective improvements, and utilize Lean tools by working and assisting the Shift Supervisors, Department Management, Production Employees, Industrial Engineering, Cost Accounting, Internal Customers, Purchasing, Warehouse, Stockroom, and Scrap reclaim.

  • Work with maintenance and outside contractors planning needed repairs and preventative measures, drives TPM, RPT, and EIT activities in department, development of strategic plan to drive predictive/ preventative activities. Working with the Maintenance Supervisor, Plant Engineers, Maintenance Planners, Maintenance, Lead Persons, Outside Contractors, TPM Coordinator, Shift Supervisors, NP team associates, and Department Managers.

  • Ensures support positions and departmental maintenance complete assigned tasks, working and assisting the Process Support Positions, and Maintenance.

  • Management responsibility of indirect reports with department ( training, and procedure development and suggestions for corrective actions), working and assisting the Shift Supervisors, Department Management, and Human Resources.

  • Allocation of M&R dollars, Supervisor assignments, Capital Project Request, Policy review, Scheduling, Maintenance, and Corrective actions. Working with the Planning Manager, IE, Guiding Coalition, Department Manager, and Accounting.

  • Capital Project Request, Policy review, Scheduling, Maintenance, and Corrective actions, working with the Planning Manager, IE, Guiding Coalition, Department Manager, and Accounting.

  • Complete Advanced Safety Audits as required by management.

  • Direct, coach, and support Direct Reports (Secondary Clerk and Needleboard Builder) to ensure inventory, 5S, and Needleboard Rotation Program are all meeting expectations.

  • Maintain Management Commitment to SMS by:

  • Ensuring Needle Punch teams are fulfilling duties regarding quality and environmental opportunities.

  • Ensuring Shift Supervisors are successfully performing all quality awareness and production responsibilities.

  • Ensuring Shift Supervisors are trained in SMS and are updated as needed.

  • Reviewing and approving SMS documents as needed.

  • Maintain the core metrics boards for the department.

  • Work with Technical and Planning Managers to coordinate trials.
