Assembly Supervisor

Position Overview

Position Objective:

Manage and guide all personnel, equipment, tools, and raw materials through the plant in the most efficient and safest way possible.

Scope:

Progressive Supervisor, Assembly Manager, MTO/Mezz Manager, HR Manager

Essential Duties:

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Progressive Assembly, ensuring samples are made in a timely manner. Maintain employee Kronos and attendance calendars. Calculate production at the end of the shift. Communicate any personnel or equipment problems to the Dept. Manager. Use a computer to retrieve production information from ASAP, Order Manager, etc. Train/retrain employees on job procedures and job hazards. Communicate with Department Manager questions on production quality. Prioritize work orders based on Prioritize orders based on Promise dates and special needs. Manage Raw Material department on first shift. Allocate labor as needed

Establish a positive working relationship with all employees in the department, keeping abreast of any upcoming or potential absenteeism, turnover or employee problems. Hold employee meetings to communicate and teach safety, wellness, policy, quality, and other information and requirements. Assure employee safety by: Actively participating with ASA’s and BBS contacts, completing incident investigation forms, and correcting and documenting all safety violations. Maintain an enthusiastic department atmosphere instilling willing cooperation in others. This may require counseling and/or taking formal disciplinary action when expected improvements in employee’s behavior are not made Conduct self in a professional manner at all times treating all employees fairly consistent with corporate policy and facility guidelines without regard to race, sex, age, religion, national origin, or any disability.

Non-Essential Duties:

Other duties as requested by Supervisor or management. Will be required to lead in stretching exercises as directed by the manager.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment. Standing required during most of shift. Travel through the plant an average of at least 8 times/day. Must be able to climb up/down stairs to Deck plant office as needed, approximately 3 times/day. Must be able to lift approximately 20 lbs.

Other Requirements:

Must have a thorough working knowledge of the Progressive Assembly processes and equipment. Must have a thorough working knowledge of Shaw's selling styles. Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Good organization skills. Must be able to balance manning to meet production needs. Basic computer skills. Basic mathematics skills, including knowing how to read a measuring tape.

Training Requirements:

Introduction to the Chemical Right to Know Program with continual and annual updates. Overview of the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA). On-the-job training; review of responsibilities from Supervisor. SES training CPR/First Aid training. Various safety courses as required

Safety & Security Requirements:

Must follow all safety and security measures as outlined by Shaw regulations. Safety vest is required when in a lift truck area, including the end of the assembly line and in the finished goods area. Be cautious of lift trucks in the area. Ascend/descend stairs one step at a time. Use handrail. Use proper lifting techniques.

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts PM
