Commercial Business Intelligence Analyst
Position Overview
This position will be a part of the Commercial Business Intelligence team, which resides within the Commercial Strategy and Insights group. The BI Analyst will be a leader in supporting the Commercial Sales and Marketing organization by building, maintaining, and improving key platforms for insight development and decision making. They will be a steward of Commercial Business data, delivering high quality insights for both operational use and strategic development.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate, consult, and lead discussions with business leaders, analysts, and engineers to collect business requirements and design effective solutions
Organize and transform data to be used in analysis and visualization, utilizing SQL (within the Databricks platform) for data source development/ETL
Develop clear and concise visual insights that lead to optimal decision making and business improvements, utilizing Tableau for visualization
Ensure insights are accessible, repeatable, explainable, and actionable
Deliver compelling communications about business insights with mid-level and senior leadership
Drive projects with minimal supervision, effectively managing project scope, prioritization, and timelines
Be a valuable partner to our business stakeholders, providing a positive user experience
Organize and document data assets and visualizations, continuously knowledge sharing with team members
Continuously learn about data visualization, cloud data engineering, and advanced analytics concepts
Communicate with others at appropriate times in order to seek solutions to problems and/or clarify task requirements
Partner with Shaw’s Enterprise IT organization to receive support and ensure data governance standards are met
Be able to travel locally among Shaw facilities to train on the systems and information by presenting in front of groups of sales or marketing; or to travel to conferences
Be able to work with confidential data and safeguard as appropriate
Qualifications:
2 or 4 Year Degree in Business or Computer Science or equivalent program
Experience developing insights with Data Visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI
Experience coding in SQL both for querying and creating database objects
Ability to creatively analyze data and find trends utilizing Excel, Tableau, and SQL
Ability to contribute and lead cross functional teams to develop collaborative solutions
Ability to effectively communicate to a variety of audiences with various technical backgrounds
Strong problem-solving, critical thinking skills with willingness to challenge the status quo
Strong learning agility and adaptive skills to new software and methodologies
Strong business acumen with financial and sales literacy
Flexible work environment with remote days
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Shaw Commercial Division business processes
Experience with Databricks cloud-based platform
Familiarity with Salesforce.com for sales quoting/opportunities/customer management, etc.
Familiarity with Shaw’s order management system
Experience with Data Science tools such as R or Python
Experience with Data Lakes such as Azure, AWS, or Hadoop
