Director of Art and Photography
The Director of Art + Photography has the responsibility for the design and development of the visual and aesthetic direction of Shaw’s residential marketing family of brands (Shaw Floors, A/T, COREtec, Philadelphia Commercial, 5th + Main) which includes web, digital, print collateral, logos, POP, trade show exhibits, merchandising graphics, and photography. This role will set the holistic design vision and guide a team of graphic designers, creatives, and photographers through all phases of key projects while working closely with the media and content leaders as part of the in-house creative team.
Lead team cross-functionally across residential marketing to develop best-in-class visual content.
Direct team of graphic designers and photographers to fulfill art needs for our key audiences/channels such as retail, builder, sales team, distributor consumer.
Advise on, craft, and help evolve the illustration, typographic and photography systems.
Lead initiatives to better understand brand objectives, industry trends, strategic positioning and target audience, empowering teams to incorporate multiple forms of data in their process and leverage design for new insights.
Advocate for industry leading platforms and tools and find new ways to innovate on design and content output.
Ensure brand consistency and standards while researching new ways to elevate brand positioning by keeping it innovative across industry vertical (web, digital, social).
Develop departmental goals for production timelines.
Monitor design budgets.
Work ranges from in-store merchandising, POP, presentations, and sale training tools to digital/print advertising, large format signage for trucks, billboards, etc, as well as social media content, and trade show support.
Must have experience working closely with vendors requesting quotes, managing proofs, and ensuring that work produced meets the standards of our residential brands and channels.
Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to collaborate with team members.
Contribute to a culture that supports great creativity through curiosity, exploration, and innovation.
Manage and uphold the residential brands, ensuring compliance of identity and standards.
Have a deep understanding and a clear view on design trends and retail innovation by way of attending design/retail shows and conferences, reading design blogs and being an active participant in the design community.
Bachelors Degree in graphic design or related field, 10+ years graphic design experience in an agency or corporate environment, 3+ years in a supervisory/management role
Exceptional communicator with the ability to influence and drive strategy.
Must have an impressive portfolio of design work
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Positive and inclusive attitude that fosters collaboration on creative service steam and with other departments within Shaw Industries
Knowledge of best print practices
A deep understanding of social media platforms and experience creating content for them
