Position Overview

The Director of Hardwood and Laminate Categories primary objective is to drive all key initiatives that ensure the budgeted NDC is achieved in both categories. This will be accomplished with specific focus on product and brand management, product assortment analysis, key business metrics development and analysis, and expense/inventory control. This role is the face for both these categories both inside and outside the enterprise.


  • Leader of both the Hardwood and Laminate Strategic Profit Teams. Work with all disciplines that drive both categories profitability and growth. This will require key relationships throughout the company (global sourcing, quality, technical, manufacturing, legal, sustainability, sales, marketing, channel, inventory management and distribution/transportation).

  • Help manage the selection of products that match our strategic plan for our retail, builder, commercial and home center hardwood and laminate businesses. In hardwood a balance must be achieved between sourcing and maximizing efficiencies at our internal operations.

  • Key demand input for both categories in our executive sales and operations planning process (ES&OP) to ensure we balance all demand with our supply assets. This role will work closely with all key sales owners in each selling channel (Retail, Builder and Home Center) along with our sourcing and supply chain partners.

  • The primary conduit from the field sale organization back to Global Sourcing and our manufacturing teams.

  • Work closely and help develop strategy for slow moving and excess material.

  • Work closely and help develop with Retail and Builder DVPs inventory strategy in local RDCs. Must ensure proper accountability for local inventory plans.

  • Key input for both the hardwood & laminate businesses for developing annual business plans and quarterly budget updates. This will be accomplished in close collaboration with members of the both the channel and field sales organizations.

  • A primary contact for the field marketing organization on product, training and marketing related issues. Considered the subject matter expert for both categories.

  • Consistent customer interaction via travel, telephone and email. Having significant customer relationships is a requirement.

  • Work closely with Marketing Technology to ensure that hardwood & laminate is an integral part of our digital marketing effort.

  • Develop and maintain accurate price lists. In addition, the key conduit between our sourcing and manufacturing teams on any needed price increase. Work closely with our channel and sales partners on their implementation.

  • Work hand in hand with sourcing on the selection of potential new partners. In addition, this role must maintain good relationships with our current supply partners.


  • This position must have previous hard surface experience

  • Experience directly in Hardwood and/or Laminate is required

  • College degree is preferred

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
