Position Overview

Job Title: EHS Manager

Position Overview: Develop, manage, and provide oversight for all environmental and safety programs at Plants 81 and 1. Ensure that the facilities comply with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations, Shaw policies, procedures and best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer all plant specific EHS elements that relate to the Shaw Management System (SMS) within the facility.

  • Develop, manage and take ownership of all SAFE system and safety compliance related elements that are applicable to the facility.

  • Create safety programs for the facility that are consistent with corporate programs and systems.

  • Serve as the liaison between facility management and Corporate Risk Management to ensure effective EHS programs are in place and that all necessary training is being conducted.

  • Serve as the site expert on incident investigations related to associate injuries, near misses, property damage, etc.

  • Provide analysis of all data related to EHS performance at the facility. This includes analysis of injury trends, first aids, near miss incidents, environmental permits, etc. Develop metrics to track and report to plant management.

  • Manage all life safety program elements to include life safety code implementation, property insurance management, FM Global inspections, Fire Department visits, etc.

  • Become a proficient user of Shaw’s RMIS. Train appropriate personnel as needed to enter incident information. Monitor as necessary to ensure action items are completed, and all data has been entered.

  • Serve as site administrator for the HSI SDS system. Champion the site chemical approval process within the system. Ensure that all new chemicals introduced are approved through the proper channels prior to introduction in the work environment.

  • Conduct routine EHS and system audits to ensure compliance and support continuous improvement. Report any concerns to appropriate facility and corporate resources.

  • Develop and implement applicable programs as outlined by the Shaw Environmental Handbook as well as other environmental regulatory programs applicable to the facilities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

    Requirements and Education

  • 4-year degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Safety, or a related field

  • 1+ years experience as an EHS Manager or in a related field

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and leadership skills

  • Must be capable of successfully managing multiple projects

    Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work in an environment where temperatures can reach 90+ degrees

  • Must be able to stand and/or sit for 8 hours per day

  • Must be able to receive and understand oral, written, or visual communication from others

  • Must be able to speak to groups of individuals

  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs to inspect equipment

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
