EHS Technician - 1st Shift

Position Overview

Essential Duties:

  • Participate in facility Safety and Ergonomic meetings.

  • Be an EHS expert and resource for plant associates.

  • Attend or conduct EHS related periodic departmental and plant meetings as well as training that will foster continued job improvement.

  • Understand and utilize Shaw systems (SAFE/SMS/SES/Job Procedures/Process Improvements, etc.).

  • Write Lock Out Tag Out procedures/process.

  • Monitor for unsafe conditions, behaviors and work to change those behaviors.

  • Attend management meetings to provide updates on EHS progress.

  • Give positive and constructive feedback to all levels of associates.

  • Work with Plant Management and production associates to develop and maintain a work environment that supports continuous improvement with regard to safety, quality, environmental procedures, and productivity.

  • Participate in EHS&S compliance audits.

  • Act as EHS liaison between hourly and salaried associates.

  • Maintain Records retention, files, electronic or otherwise for EHS&S compliance.

  • Give direction and guidance for assigned EHS&S projects.

  • Set the standard for adherence to all known EHS&S rules 100% of the time.

  • Conduct EHS&S Compliance assessments and inspections.

  • Must be able to provide training at various times day or night, servicing all shifts.

  • Maintain Confidentiality

  • Occasionally travel to other locations or facilities.

  • Must be able to work in a collaborative environment that fosters teamwork.

  • Must be able to provide support for facility events/functions.

II. Non-Essential Duties:

  • Maintain office and work area in clean and business-like manner

  • Operate office equipment

  • III. Education:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • IV. Experience:

  • Communication and public speaking training and/or experience along with willingness to speak and teach a class in front of groups is essential.

  • Exceptional listening, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Software – Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Google

  • Bilingual preferred but not required

  • VI. Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects (weighing more than 10 pounds) in an 8-hour period of time on hard surfaces such as concrete.

  • VII. Other Requirements

  • Must be willing to work off-shift when necessary. This may be for extended periods of time.

  • Must be familiar with the use of office equipment such as calculators, computers, copy and fax machines, video recording equipment / cameras, and video processing with PowerPoint.

  • Must be familiar with the use of EHS equipment, confined space monitors, dosimeters, Etc.

  • VIII. Training Requirements:

  • Must be able to bend down repeatedly and stretch for long periods of time, walk long distances, climb stairs and steps

  • Must be able to transport and maneuver objects on dollies

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
