Financial Services Credit Trainee
This position is entry prerequisite to the Credit Manager position. The Credit Manager Trainee is expected to promote to Credit Manager within 12-18 months. During this training period, the position will learn to apply skills to provide high velocity and customer centric credit service/decisions based on company’s policies/procedures/best practices for our business within an assigned segment of approx. 600 customers, average accounts receivable balance of approx. $15 - $20 million, and approx. annual sales of $150 million. The position will make continuous case by case and time sensitive, strategic decisions that promote and drive customer growth while maximizing efficient turn and management of Accounts’ Receivable. The position requires strong people skills and financial/business acumen.
Manages an accounts receivable portfolio and activities related to credit extension, and collection/management of accounts receivable.
Performs financial analysis and assessment of customer financial reports/metrics/trends for both short and long term credit extension strategy, and for customer’s own financial health awareness.
Assesses, plans and deploys a strategy of customer-centric collection activities to resolve past due invoices, payment deductions, etc. throughout assigned customer portfolio.
Deploys effective strategy and solutions relative to more complex and difficult cases, including high risk and potential bad debt loss customers, and other cases that require intricate negotiation.
Demonstrates entrepreneurial behavior in all actions and strategies, taking full ownership of credit extension and collection challenges, with the quest to maintain our customer’s positive perception of the Shaw brand.
Deploys effective assessment and strategy relative to the activity of customers who are placed with 3rd party collection entities, and those who are under formal liquidation or reorganization through U.S. bankruptcy.
Acquires acumen to deploy strategical use of liens, bond claims, security, and recourse.
Establishes and maintains cooperative partnerships and strategic influence with internal and external business partners for the purpose of collaboration and information sharing, all toward growing our business and performance results.
Responsible for ensuring the confidentiality of customer accounts, policies and procedures within the department, and all financial information about Shaw.
Participate in special projects or committees as directed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor Degree with an emphasis in core business-related areas such as Accounting, Finance,Management, Economics or Business Administration and/or job-related experience.
Self-motivated individual with excellent problem solving, negotiation, analytical, and peopleskills, with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities.
Ability and motivation to successfully negotiate win-win solutions.
Ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and effectively through both written and oralcommunication. Effectively handle contentious situations with tact anddiplomacy.
Proficient in the use of spreadsheet, word processing, and other office productivity software.
Effectively analyzejob-related information and make sound decisions.
Ability to perseverethrough completion in the face of resistance or setbacks.
Ability to multi-task through use of proper planning and organizing of workflow.
