HR Payroll Tax and Accounting Analyst

Position Overview

This position is located in a fast paced, highly analytical and dynamic environment. The position operates under the direction of the Payroll Systems Manager with a strong dotted line to the Payroll US Operations Manager and Payroll Systems Manager. The Technical Analyst will become an advocate for the business, while interacting with Business Partners to determine appropriate system-related solutions to business problems. The associate will analyze, research, and troubleshoot technical system problems, and recommend delivered or custom solutions that can be implemented.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for system support of Workday HRMS Payroll functions related to Tax & Accounting, Benefits, and Financial Wellness to ensure the accuracy, data integrity, timeliness of all payroll transactions, auditing and reporting

  • Responsible for technical support for unemployment claims management services, wage verification services, and W-2 reporting.

  • Provides on-going data analysis to Management for labor related initiatives by partnering with managers in the design, development and generation of ad-hoc business reports, queries, and file development​

  • Develop and maintain audit reports and processes to insure compliance with Company Policies, Federal, State and Local authorities

  • Provide support to customers by working with Information Services, vendors, and other business partners to ensure that correct functionality is applied to Shaw’s HCM systems

  • Serves as an active team member for approved payroll projects, strategic payroll initiatives, and integration of newly acquired business, systems upgrades, implementations, and technical related projects including troubleshooting, and problem resolution; coordinate and validate complete and accurate testing

  • Responsible for coordination and testing of new Benefit or Financial Wellness related programs and initiatives

  • Serves as liaison between IT staff and user community to communicate business/system application needs.

  • Analyze, configure, and develop payroll files required for various initiatives

  • Conducts analysis for development of internal/external interfaces; tests to ensure interface meets customer requirements

  • Evaluate and recommend changes in methods and procedures related to the tax/accounting and payroll functions in order to ensure efficiency of operations

  • Research, evaluate, and promote new technologies or business applications that support the Payroll strategic initiatives and goals

  • Maintain Payroll’s intranet site

  • Maintain payroll-related training material in LMS

    REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience

  • Technical proficiency including Microsoft Office

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply critical thinking

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Accountable and confidential

    PREFERRED:

  • Workday experience

  • Payroll experience

  • Accounting experience

  • Project management experience

    COMPETENCIES:

    Special Requirements:

    Salaried payroll position is required to be on call during payroll processing, work holidays, weekends, and evenings as needed. Incumbent must be able to prioritize workload, work under time constraints and meet deadlines. Position requires ability to maintain professional effective relationships with associates at all levels of the organization.

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
