Industrial Engineering Manager II

Position Overview

Oversee the Industrial Engineering Department at Plant 4, 4C & 80 with specific consideration to safety, improving the overall process, productivity, and cost improvement to the production management organization.

Safety Responsibilities

It is the Plant 4 leadership team’s responsibility to follow the outlined safety responsibilities and support the plant to ensure these responsibilities can be met:

  • Take personal responsibility for your own safety and care for the safety of others

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

  • Do not operate unsafe or broken equipment. Do not accept workarounds and short cuts

  • Report all hazards and incidents no matter how small

  • Follow job procedures and JHA’s

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee IE and accounting specs and responsibilities at Plant 4, 4C and 80.

  • Oversee IE and accounting associates. Included co-op and/or OMT.

  • Drive CI program and LSW through IE and business partners.

  • Follow the Industrial Engineering Manager Leader Standard Work.

  • Lead the IE Department Tier 2 Meeting and attend and support the plant Tier 3 process.

  • Oversee waste and process improvements by continuously working across the plant resources to better improve plant performance.

  • Implement strategies to achieve annual cost reduction goals.

  • Product costing strategies. Includes working across the company with R&D and other business strategy partners. Cost products accurately with increasing business changes.

  • Determine key plant KPIs that improve business impact. Determine leading metrics that drive the KPIs. Set goals across the plant and departments.

  • Serve on each of the 4 key leadership steering teams of Safety-SLO, Quality-QIT, Reliability-TPM, and People-4Rocks, to help set strategy and drive improvement in each area.

  • Partner with plant leadership to set plant strategy.

  • Verify plant and supplier standards between prior quarter changes. Yarn, backing, latex, dye and chem, and other changes.

  • Prepare annual operational budget.

  • Spec change products that are changing and/or new routings.

  • System expert - be knowledgeable and fully understand plant and division systems. Shopfloor systems, costing systems, reporting systems, user interface data collection systems.

  • Guide and support plant leadership, supporting groups, technical and department groups to make and drive cost effective decisions.

  • Attend periodic departmental meetings and training that will foster continued job improvement.

  • Administer cost/benefit analysis in support of capital and expense budgets.

  • Work effectively across company divisions: plant mfg. resources, product costing, accounting, IE divisional group, technical, R&D, and other divisions.

  • Coordinate time studies and Work Measurement studies.

  • Maintain job assignments and utilization.

  • Serve as Six Sigma Black Belt.

  • Perform other duties as directed by the Plant Manager.

  • Help coordinate scheduling of plant tours. Ensure trained facilitators are available to provide a positive customer experience to tour groups.

  • Serve as the Plant’s Waste Coordinator.

  • Serve on the Plant’s Ergonomics Taskforce.

  • Maintain Plant Layouts.

Requirements:

  • 4-year degree in Industrial Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline

  • Ability to read, analyze, manipulate, and interpret complex data sets and solve complex problems

  • Strong communication, facilitation, project management skills

  • Manufacturing experience preferred

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
