Process Improvement Engineer

Position Overview

Shaw Industries is looking for a Process Improvement Engineer to oversee the Process Improvement efforts within Plants DJ and T 7 with specific consideration to the overall safety, process, productivity, and cost improvement to the organization .Based on experience of candidate, this role can be filled as a Process Improvement Engineer or Sr Process Improvement Engineer.

We are looking for an individual who can act as a leader on the floor – developing relationships, building customer satisfaction, and initiating action with plant associates at all levels to improve and communicate plant ne eds, improvements, efforts, and impact.

Responsibilities :

  • Identify , maintain , and drive cost reduction initiatives for the plants. Establish annual incremental cost reduction plan / strategy . Part of this responsibility will be to oversee / manage DJ / T7’s O perational I mprovement P lan .

  • Serve as Plant Waste Champion and lead waste reduction efforts (PI Waste and Recycling) and as the MRM system administrator.

  • Assist with preparing the plant annual budget and the annual capital budget.

  • Lead and manage the plant Process Improvement program

  • Serve as Plant Data Champion by creating, revamping, and maintaining useful tools in Splunk, Office Scripts, Power Automate, Ignition, Minitab, etc.  

  • Use statistical analysis to determine root cause of failures and focus areas for improvements.

  • Work with Plant / Department Manager(s) to improve manufacturing processes through efficiency improvements, safety, and quality

  • Lead or assist in Workplace Improvement Team initiatives / efforts . Utilizing Operational Excellence tools such a s Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizens, TPM, Standard Work, Time studies, Root Cause Analysis, Benchmarking, Ergonomic assessments, trend analysis, etc. to drive identified improvements.

  • Coach, Train, & Develop plant associates in all the necessary skills to utilize tools of Operational Excellence

  • Must be able to prepare capital & expense project proposals (requires CPM training) for new equipment, modifications and upgrades, including calculating savings and EVA

  • Prepare efficiency, production, and capacity charts and help guide decisions based on trends.

  • Assist in development of Plant DJ business and strategic plans.

  • Participate in Management p rograms such as: Calibration Meetings ( SLO, QIT, TPM ) , SMS, Plant activity reports , Audits, and other areas as needed.

  • Serve as site leader for Standard Work

  • Serve as Shop Flex Program Administrator

  • Must have the ability to manage multiple projects and work without close supervision

  • Assist in the developmental and learning process of Co-ops and OMTs.

  • Must present information in a professional and user-friendly package; Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and communication skills; Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by Divisional IE, Group IE Manager, or Plant Manager.

    Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree required (Engineering or Business preferred)

  • Six Sigma Black Belt certified or plan to gain Shaw BB certification

  • Ability to read, analyze, synthesize , and interpret complex data sets and solve problems.

  • Understanding of direct financial impact of changes to process, equipment, and/or procedures.

  • Strong communication , facilitation, and project management skills.

  • Strong computer skills including spreadsheets , presentations , and statistical software .

    Preferred Skills :

  • 3 + years previous Process Improvement / Industrial Engineering experience

  • Experience with creating, interpreting, and maintaining statistical control analysis charts (Minitab or other SPC software package)

  • Interest or experience in data analysis

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
