Reliability Tech A / Lift Truck Mechanic | Mon-Fri | 7am-3pm

Position Overview

Essential Duties:

Perform advanced mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on all lift equipment (Forklifts, Pallet Jacks, Turrets, Order pickers and other equipment as necessary) to ensure quality products are being produced and shipped on time.

  • Repair and maintain Gas, Electric, and Propane lift equipment.

  • Knowledge or willingness to be trained on all lift equipment brands (Crown, Yale, Hyster, Raymond, Clark etc.)

  • Inspect lift fleet to ensure truck are working properly and safely

  • Identify lifts in need of repairs

Purpose:

  • Schedule and performs routine maintenance on lift equipment

  • Communicate and schedule work with outside vendors

  • Knowledge or willingness to be train on battery maintenance and upkeep.

  • Analyze problems to help make decisions with other mechanics or electricians.

  • Work overtime as needed.

  • Have proficient operational knowledge and skill for all machine tools, shop tools and portable tools.

  • Setup and operate shop equipment as necessary to support production.

  • Perform all work in a logical, orderly and skillful manner.

  • Operate lift trucks as needed.

  • Operate welder and cutting torch in a safe, effective and efficient manner.

  • Perform job tasks in a safe manner with minimum supervision.

  • Prepare material lists and complete purchase requisitions as needed to complete job tasks.

  • Use precision instrumentation as needed to assure quality products are being produced and shipped on time. Use N.I.S.T. approved measuring devices whenever possible.

  • Work from oral and written instructions, prints and sketches.

  • Take measurements and create workable sketches as needed.

  • Assure safety is not compromised when performing job tasks including housekeeping.

  • Maintain and upgrade maintenance equipment and facilities as required to support efficient working environment.

  • Must be able to fabricate and install equipment based on supplied engineering drawings and design criteria

  • Must utilize advanced welding techniques in the fabrication process

  • Must be able to work with and train mechanic levels I, II, and III

  • Must possess knowledge of typical plant utility systems (i.e. compressed air, chiller systems, gas, etc.)

  • Make clear, accurate and concise reports on machine tolerances where applicable.

  • Report to management any quality and safety problems and potential production problems that are encountered while performing the job

  • Obtain work assignments from Plant Engineer and/or Maintenance Supervisor. Assist with any other duties as requested by management.

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, including the ability to recognize between mechanical and electrical faults in equipment, to determine root cause of failure.

  • Enter work order information into SHARP Software Program. Information required will include machine worked on, work completed, parts used, and time spent on work order. Other information may be required at Department Management and/or Maintenance Planner discretion.

  • Must be able to successfully perform all requirements of Technician-Mechanic IV according to START program requirements.

Non-Essential Duties:

(Considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill judgment, safety knowledge and responsibility)

  • Make sure work area is clean at end of shift.

  • Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift packages weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to bend or stoop.

  • Must be able to work within a plant environment.

Other Requirements:

  • Must have basic knowledge of computers and their usage.

  • Must be able to use a ten key calculator.

  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to work under pressure.

  • Good telephone skills.

  • Should know how to read schematics / lift truck manuals.

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
