Reliability Tech Lead - Tufting - 1st Shift

Position Overview

Position Overview Serve the Tufting Department by supervising fixers and assisting with tufting machine mechanical work. Job Description

  • Supervise and assign Tufting Fixers to duties

  • Assist Tufting Fixers with routine work to include: style changes, blade changes and repairs and adjustments to machines.

  • Maintain contact with tufting machine parts vendors.

  • Order tufting machine parts and supplies as needed and approved by the Department or Plant Manager

  • Maintain machine and machine parts records for the purpose of scheduling appropriate preventative maintenance

  • Trouble-shoot unusual tufting machine problems

  • Discuss major tufting machine overhauls with Department Manager

  • Ensure that all safety procedures are observed by Tufting Fixers and that housekeeping is maintained

  • Attend periodic departmental meetings as well as training that will foster continued job improvement

  • As assigned, obtains a machine hour meter reading for tufting machines

  • Learn and use SHARP/TPM system to set up and receive work instructions

  • Directs the work order system as follows:

  • Maintain work order database (SHARP) on Maintenance Lead computer.

  • Schedule and organize work orders with the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor.

  • Communicate with Department Managers and Supervisors to clarify work orders.

  • Assign work orders to specific maintenance employees.

  • Follow-up on assigned work orders to ensure that they are completed in an efficient and timely manner

  • Inspects work for completeness.

  • Demonstrates and assists with continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

  • Adhere to normal work schedule and be able to work weekends and holidays as required.

  • Lead, supervise, and provide training/guidance to lower level technician-mechanics

  • Report to management any quality and safe ty problems and potential production problems that are encountered while performing the job

  • Specify and requisition materials needed to complete approved work orders.

  • Coordinates safety training for maintenance personnel as needed

  • Ensures that proper safety practices are being followed by working with the supervisor and manager to drive continuous improvement in the areas of safety quality and productivity.

  • Monitors and participates in operations for assigned areas including retaining quotes from contractors, checks contractor insurance, trains plant specific safety training, inspecting projects, developing and implementing modifications and improvements, recommending specifications and scheduling for contracts, inspecting contractor’s work to ensure safe work practices and standard operating procedures are followed.

Non-Essential Duties

  • Perform other non quality-related duties as directed by Department Manager

  • Serve on task forces and committees as necessary

  • Work cooperatively with other maintenance employees

  • Must possess good communication skills, both written and oral to management and other mechanics

  • Must comply with all company policies

  • Must meet all requirements to drive/operate company vehicle on company business

  • Must attend all training/development as required by facility management

  • Must practice good housekeeping skills

  • Must abide by Company attendance policy

  • Ensure the work environment is free of harassment and that employees feel free to express problems and concerns

Physical Requierments

  • Be able to lift at least 50 pounds

  • Sit or stand intermittently for at least 8 hours

  • Climb steps several times per day

  • Walk through plant several times per day

  • Withstand exposure to changes in both temperature and humidity

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
