Position Overview

We are looking for a Sr. UX / UI Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver world - class consumer shopping experiences. In this role you will work closely with the digital, creative, IT, consumer and brand teams to develop and evolve a vision and strategy for the design system that will elevate the end-to-end customer shopping experience across a variety of touch-points. You will bring rigor to the design system, establish and evangelize the vision with partner teams and champion the adoption of design based thinking.

The Senior User Experience and Interactive Design Manager will lead the research and collection of meaningful human centered insights to fuel design decisions across the shopping journey of our portfolio of Residential brands — from discovery and evaluation of products online to facilitating and driving purchases with our retail partners. The UX/UI team is responsible for defining the UX guidelines and design language (codified in our shopping design system) that enables the team to design on-brand shopping experiences efficiently and at scale.

You will continually work to optimize your team’s process and workflow. You will build and own process to identify and remove blockers to enable great design. You will manage resource allocation based on project priorities and upcoming work. You will set expectations with design, digital and IT partners and handle prioritization for all work that comes through. You will deep dive into project requirements, gaining full understanding of needs for projects that at times may be ambiguous. You will manage communication channels and provide consistent and predictable reports to stakeholders and partners. Our deliverables range from the emotional components of a brand (look, tone and feel, brand identity) to the visual identity (product and package design, digital, video and photo production) for all of our brands.

Job Function:

  • Set a vision and strategy for research within the design team, and bring an element of rigor and play to ethnographic research and observation.

  • Create, maintain, and socialize Digital Design Standards to be implemented across the organization to provide a consistent digital user experience.

  • Effectively communicate creative strategy to influence design solutions.

  • Provide thought-provoking and breakthrough people centered direction to project teams

  • Organize and understand customer data by making findings relevant and impactful through different mediums, and will advocate customer needs through storytelling, including writing, visual, and verbal communication that helps other teams build empathy for all the users we’re designing for.

  • Work closely with other insights, innovation, technology, and design teams to integrate research and user validation throughout the design process and ensure an enjoyable user experience is holistically designed.

  • Share ideas and learnings to guide product and innovation heads to ensure projects are well-defined, impactful, and successfully executed

  • Define, lead and grow the Design Research discipline

  • Drive Design-led innovation and Human Centered mindset around the world

  • Attract and hire new design research talent, as well as mentor and support career growth and professional development for existing and new hires.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Interactive Design, Systems Engineering, Human Computer Interaction or Graphic Design

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience driving creative strategy and execution for digital products

  • 5+ years of experience working on a consumer facing design system across a variety of mediums.

  • 5+ years of experience leading creative, multi-disciplinary teams

  • Self-starting, flexible, highly organized, detail-oriented, reliable, and able to multi-task and meet tight deadlines

  • Team player with refined leadership skills and ability to positively influence change through solid rationale, supporting data, and diplomacy

  • Proficiency using contemporary design, wire-framing and prototyping tools to solve complex problems and communicate in visually stunning detail

  • Expert knowledge of UX / UI design techniques and tools

  • Expert level experience in HTML, CSS and jQuery and Angular highly desirable

  • Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite including, Illustrator, and Photoshop

  • Experience working in an Agile environment

  • Experience using Agile Project Management tools such as, Jira

  • A strong portfolio of innovative design work that demonstrates industry-leading design and business success

  • Possess a solid understanding of how to leverage design and design research to create change and push ideas to market, such as building new ventures

  • Be highly collaborative and flexible, with the ability to stretch across skill sets and roles dynamically to bridge different parts of the business?

  • Inspire and guide teams through an open sharing of your expertise

  • Possess strong communication and storytelling skills, using various mediums and formats

  • Be able to thrive in an ambiguous and rapidly changing environment.

  • Have the ability to in facilitate and lead workshops or immersive experiences

  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
