Position Overview

This Sourcing Category Specialist will focus on for Capital Equipment, Fleet and Material Handling. This role is a primary component of Shaw’s Strategic Procurement and Strategic Sourcing Models. The Sourcing Specialist executes Shaw’s sourcing strategy that seeks to ensure the company benefits from the best price, quality, and service from suppliers by facilitating team-based procurement decision-making, creating process efficiencies and providing outstanding service. The Sourcing Specialist has a primary role in facilitating the category team collaborative process including negotiating strategic supplier relationships and for creating and implementing procurement process efficiencies company-wide and is committed to doing so with a high degree of customer service. The category management process is a full-service approach to managing the supply chain and touches the entire source-to-pay process.


  • Manage spend in capital equipment, fleet and material handling categories.

  • Commit company funds based on authorized user requirements, company policies and ethical standards

  • Facilitate the negotiation strategy for each area of manage spend

  • Facilitate and drive strategic supplier utilization

  • Maintain a level of expertise in an assigned category or categories while remaining current on industry best practices by participating in research, building relationships

  • Manage the overall resolution of quality or non-conformance issues

  • Recognize issues which hinder the achievement of the business partners and use industry expertise and Business knowledge to identify novel, creative and realistic solutions to problems

  • Develop reports that accurately provide a means to analyze necessary data for decision making, tracking, and/or spend.

  • Create efficiencies in Sourcing and the business supported

  • Oversee on-premise services for compliance with Risk Management requirements

  • Interact with suppliers to manage the day to day supplier relationship and execute the defined strategy for assigned categories

  • Strives to understand customers’ expectations (whether internal or external) and works to meet or exceed them while remaining mindful of business objectives

  • Leverage Shaw’s organizational structure to effectively channel communications.

  • Attend trade shows routinely and remain current on industry news and developments

  • 4 year degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Logistics, Inventory, or Engineering AND 3 years manufacturing or logistics operations experience


5 years of manufacturing or logistics operations leadership experience in the last 5 years in an organization of similar size and scope

  • Demonstrated experience operating systems directly related to tracking and analysis to organize data procurement or sourcing models (i.e., MRP/ERP) and possess the ability to select the appropriate system(s) to create efficiencies for our business partners.

  • <20% Local and/or domestic travel as needed


  • Experienced with sourcing systems and processes

  • Business negotiation experience

  • Category experience related to categories being sourced

  • Professional Certification in a Supply Chain Related Area (i.e. C.P.M., CPSM, CPIM, etc.)

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
