Structuring Operator | Shift 2 | Mon-Fri 3pm-11pm

Position Overview

Position Objective:

  • Operate, setup, maintain, and doff Structure Loom in order to keep machines running and provide a steady flow of Structured goods to the next process.

Essential Duties:

(Considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge and responsibility)

  • Doff and maintain cleanliness of looms, Synger, and sewing machine.

  • Remove fiber clogs from bedplate, lammellas, and needle boards.

  • Ensure correct shop orders are being fed to the line for processing

  • Communicate quality or mechanical problems or concerns to Supervisor.

  • Assist technicians and mechanics in performing maintenance and minor repairs as needed.

  • Repair broken needles in looms.

  • Sew on new rolls.

  • Inspect Carpet.

  • Print tickets.

  • Perform weight and stretch checks.

  • Enter roll information into Infinity.

  • Complete production reports.

  • Clean equipment as many times per shift as necessary.

  • Adhere to normal work schedule and work overtime as required.

  • Responsible for building and repairing needle boards.

Non-Essential Duties:

  • General housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

  • Participate in process improvement projects and meetings.

  • Perform other duties as directed by plant management.

  • Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of computers with ability to enter information in Infinity Software.

Training Requirements:

  • Training on specification system and SQS system.

  • Job Hazard Analysis Training

  • Chemical Right to Know Training

  • Lock-out procedures training.

  • On the job training provided by a qualified person selected by supervisor.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to go into confined areas between the j-box and needler.

  • Ability to walk and/or stand for the majority of a shift.

  • Ability to lift 20-30 lb. needle boards safely.

  • Ability to install 500-900 needles in a board in a shift.

  • Must be able to work in industrial environment with elevated noise levels, dust, dirt, humidity and temperature variations.

  • Must successfully pass vision screen for color perception.

Other Requirements:

  • Able to recognize numbers letters and symbols on tickets and process specification sheets.

  • Need to make weight judgments to recognize light or heavy felt on setup.

  • Ability to understand and operate basic computer and internet functions in order to access specs, setups, SOP’s, to make tickets and enter production.

Safety / Security Requirements:

  • Always wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for a task.

  • Always be cautious of lift trucks traveling throughout the plants.

  • Immediately report any and all quality, safety, or mechanical issues to the supervisor on duty.

  • Hair must be worn above collar length.

  • Keep all loose articles away from machinery.

  • Practice general housekeeping and keep work areas clean.

  • Always use proper lifting techniques.

  • Report any injuries to your supervisor or nurse immediately.

  • Observe all plant policies including but not limited to cutting policy, speed limit policy, and tobacco use policy.

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts PM
