Technology Project Manager
Position Overview
The Technology Project Management Office (PMO) is charged with applying a consistent and proven project and program management framework to ensure due diligence in project planning, selection, and execution. This approach in turn helps IT achieve its mission of rapidly delivering technology that matters. The PMO has a far reach supporting beyond IT to the global enterprise when it comes to delivering technology. As a Project Manager, this associate will have an opportunity to support working teams with future upgrades, improvements, transformations, and digitization-type projects for specific business groups. This PM role will be aligned with IT Core Infrastructure and User Experience technology teams.
Position Objective
Successfully lead medium and large-scale projects through the project life cycle while ensuring the projects are on time, on budget, and within scope.
Responsibilities
Develops detailed project plans to monitor, track progress, and deliver technology solutions
Develops project resource requirements and works with appropriate organizational units to acquire resource commitments
Measures and tracks performance using appropriate project management tools and techniques
Performs risk management to minimize potential risks, identifies issues and resolves them appropriately
Escalates project-impacting issues at the proper time and to the proper leadership level
Meets budgetary objectives and makes adjustments as needed based on financial analysis
Develops a change management plan for projects as needed based on change management assessments. Promotes change and is optimistic in the face of change.
Manages relationships with project stakeholders, business partners, and vendors. Works to create proper project team engagement and motivation.
Interfaces with third-party consultants and subject matter experts at all levels to determine areas of exposure and appropriate solutions to potential problems
Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, with people at all levels of the corporation in a clear and concise manner
Maintains appropriate project documentation.
Manages competing demands across a portfolio of projects
Leads discovery, POC (Proof of Concept), and pilot initiatives as needed.
Facilitates vendor evaluations to identify new vendor partners.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in information technology, business management, or related field or 5+ years project management experience
Strong familiarity with project management tools, various methodologies, and best practices
Demonstrates strong organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to manage multiple, large, and complex projects effectively
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of financial terms and processes used to manage projects
Ability to make decisions is critical. Sound analytical skills with the ability to successfully troubleshoot and problem solve.
Excellent time management skills, able to meet prescribed deadlines. Manage competing demands in a stressful environment.
Self-motivated, takes initiative, and takes responsibility for own actions or mistakes.
Promote change as necessary in a continually improving organization; is enthusiastic and optimistic in the face of change.
Conduct day-to-day activities and interactions with other employees in a professional, courteous, and positive manner to model desired performance standards.
Preferred Skills & Experience
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and experience
Change Management training (Prosci) and demonstrated experience to promote change
Strong understanding of various IT business environments ( infrastructure and user experience )
Strong proficiency: Service Now Strategic Planning Management, Peoplesoft e-procurement, Microsoft Office applications, Smartsheet
How We Work:
- Our team works in a Hybrid environment but mostly remote. We use Microsoft Teams to stay connected. Besides messaging, we have a Team Huddle every Monday morning and a Team Connect every Thursday to keep our skills sharp. We meet up in person at the Shaw headquarters in Dalton, GA. from time to time. Certain projects might require travel (for site visits, vendor meet-ups, project support, leadership kick-off) during the engagement.
