Position Overview
Utility Relief II
Position Objective:
The main purpose of the utility-relief is to give breaks to all stationary personnel as well as perform particular housekeeping responsibilities at the start and end of each shift. The utility-relief also fills in for absent associates.
Essential Duties (Considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge, and responsibility):
o Update production logs and other SQS forms.
o Give breaks to all stationary personnel on the MultiTech range. This includes:
o Sew-On operator
o Sew-On lift truck operator
o Fluidyer operator
o Dryer operator
o Inspector
o Roll-Up lift truck operator.
o Perform housekeeping duties.
o Fill in for absenteeism
o Must be able to attend work regularly and be present at the designated times of scheduling.
o Must be able to adhere to the normal work schedule, i.e. starting and stopping times, and when applicable, rotating days.
o Follow procedures as outlined in SQS manual.
o Clean filters
o Clean lent bags
Non-Essential Duties (Considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge, and responsibility):
o Perform weekend cleanup and startup functions.
o Contribute to BBS & TPM process.
o Report safety and quality risks and incidents immediately.
o Must be knowledgeable and up to date on job procedures and safety requirements.
Physical Requirements:
o Must be able to sit, walk and/or stand intermittently for at least an 8 hour shift.
o Must be able to work in temperatures that range from 50 degrees to 110 degrees.
o Must be able to climb ladders, use air/water hoses, pick up garbage bags, work in wet and dusty environment and work in confined spaces.
o Ability to climb onto the Sew-On table 40-60 times per 8 hour shift.
o Ability to pull carpet from the floats and onto the Sew-On table.
o Ability to pull carpet from the roll to the Sew-On table.
o Ability to get on and off a lift truck every 20 minutes.
o Ability to carry small amounts of unpacked carpet that weighs 20 - 30 lbs.
o Ability to move, to connect, and disconnect dye hose and lift extractor lint baskets that weigh 30 - 80 lbs. when wet.
o Ability to lift 40 – 60 lb. buckets of dry and liquid chemicals.
o Must be able to bend for long periods of time.
o Must be able to work in areas up to 30 feet above the floor. (vertical steamer catwalk)
o Ability to work in above normal noise and odors .
Other Requirements:
o Must be able to recognize letters and numbers.
o Must be able to read and understand English.
o Must have hand and finger dexterity to enter data into computer, scanner and sewing machine.
