Utility Relief Op - Blending & Carding - 3rd Shift - $17.61/Hour

Position Overview

Position Objective: To assist in the BCS Department filling in for any positions in BCS when operators are on break, absenteeism and vacation. To prepare associates for future vacancies as a result of attrition.

Essential Duties: (Considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge and responsibility)

Fill in for any BCS positions during breaks and absenteeism

Assist with the re-building of needleboards for all looms as needed

Maintain a clean a organized plant environment

Assist with regrinding waste material

Fill in for LTO position as needed

Assist the blending operator with bale and machine maintenance

Assist operators as directed by the supervisor/ lead

Performing visual quality checks while covering jobs

Assist/Perform any major clean up task and routine cleaning duties

Non Essential Duties: (Considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge and responsibility)

Participate in process improvement projects and meetings.

General housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Perform other duties as directed by supervisor or plant management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Must be able to perform basic math.

Experience in manufacturing preferred.

Must have computer skills with the ability to use internet in order to access specs, setups, and SOP’s.

Training Requirements:

Must complete on the job training.

Process specification system and SMS system training.

Job Hazard Analysis training.

Chemical Right to Know training.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to pass an LTO eye exam administered by authorized personnel.

Must be able to push up to 800 lb. bales onto conveyor 20-30 time per shift.

Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

Ability to enter a confined area for cleaning.

Must be able to stand or walk for the majority of shift.

Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry loads of up to 50 pounds without assistance.

Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, grasp and reach frequently.

Must be able to work with hands/arms extended overhead.

Must be able to climb stairs and ladders repeatedly.

Must be able to work in industrial environment with elevated noise levels, dust, dirt, humidity and temperature variations.

Must participate in pre-shift stretching exercises.

Other Requirements:

Lift truck training required on all PIT’s required to do the job.

Able to recognize numbers, letters, and symbols on tickets and process blend sheets.

Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and associates.

Must be able to work well under pressure with the ability to meet deadlines.

Must be able to comply with all plant policies.

Must be able to recognize various styles of product.

Must be able to recognize various types of defects.

Must be able to perform tasks quickly and safely.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Fiber removal guns (cordless drills)

Bale breakers

Blending fans

Wrenches

Piping

Valves

Bin emptier

Heavy magnets

Computer

Bolt cutters

Utility knife

Pick

Air gun

Lift truck

Safety & Security Requirements:

Always wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for a task.

Always be cautious of lift trucks traveling throughout the plants.

Immediately report any and all quality, safety, or mechanical issues to the supervisor on duty.

Hair must be worn above collar length.

Keep all loose articles away from machinery.

Practice general housekeeping and keep work areas clean.

Always use proper lifting techniques.

Report any injuries to your supervisor immediately.

Observe all plant policies including but not limited to cutting policy, speed limit policy, and tobacco use policy.

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to out-punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts PM
