Position Overview

Shaw Industries is looking for a General/Plant Manager to manage and direct the day-to-day functions of the Shaw manufacturing plant in Nantong, China.

Position Overview:    

Shaw Carpet (China) Ltd operates a commercial carpet tile manufacturing facility in Nantong China capable of pro ducing 5,000,000 m^2 /year of Shaw’s Ecoworx commercial carpet tile for distribution in the Asia Pacific market . The General Manager at Plant CN is responsible for daily execution of corporate manufacturing strategy at the site . Th is position p rovides direction and leadership with utmost regard to safety, efficiency, productivity, cost, quality and people while ensuring compliance with all company, plant, and local/regional regulatory guidelines and procedures . The General Manager will e nsure manufacturing operations are aligned with Shaw’s core values by leading the development of the environment (culture), systems and processes to deliver value to our customers, our people, our company and the community .    

Responsibilities:  

  • Manage and direct the day-to-day functions of Plant CN’s manufacturing operations in Nantong China . Processes include warping, tufting, compounding, coating and cutting of commercial carpet tile products.

  • Lead and support the finance and logistics teams located at the manufacturing facility in Nantong . The logistics department includes customer service, production and material planning, import & export traffic control, and local sourcing . Finance consists of product cost, treasury, general ledger, tax and AP/AR functions.  

  • Build strategic relationships with product development, sales, marketing and other support areas; maintain communication, provide product related information and participate in Strategic Profit Team efforts.  

  • Drive, support and monitor safety, quality, cost, productivity, efficiency, TPM (total productive maintenance), training and process improvement.  

  • Lead facility talent management initiatives. Attract, hire, and retain talent to support the operation to include departmental leadership and succession planning.  

  • Coordinate with production planning to ensure week to week schedule and capacities meet customer requirements across multiple product types and construction; recommend changes/adjustments as needed.    

  • Drive customer focus throughout the operation.  Ensure product quality and service meets customer expectations to a level that is viewed as a competitive advantage in the market.  

  • Determine capacity requirements vs forecast and recommend capital expenditures needed to support business growth and/or market changes.   

  • Partner closely with Divisional and Corporate resources to drive process improvement and innovation that delivers value to the business.  

  • Direct raw material control and supply chain optimization efforts.   

  • Perform additional duties and tasks as directed by the International Manufacturing Director.  

    Requirements:   

  • 10+ years of manufacturing management experience or bachelor's degree with 5+ years of manufacturing management experience required .  Engineering degree preferred Management experience including the direction of multiple manufacturing departments and processes preferred.  

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.  Communicate effectively with all levels of management, including supervision and hourly associates.  

  • Must be able to read, write, comprehend , and analyze data and reports.  

  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, all job functions in the departments to provide direction and leadership.  

  • Commercial flooring or interiors manufacturing experience preferred.  

  • International Travel required : up to 10%.
