EHS Utility Technician
Position Overview
Purpose:
The EHS Utility job will work in multiple departments performing combustible dust cleaning and various safety maintenance jobs such as painting, hanging signs and minor repairs.
Requirements
Responsible for vacuuming overhead pipes, support beams and any high areas with dust accumulation that cannot be reached from floor level.
Responsible for cleaning tops of electrical cabinets, production equipment and any high areas with dust accumulation that can be reached from floor level .
Must be certified or willing to be certified to operate an aerial lift including scissor and boom lift .
Assists in maintaining the quality and appearance of the plant by reporting repair issues and needs on a daily basis .
Must be able to operate an aerial lift safely and proficiently .
Must be able to adhere to plant cleaning schedule per specific time frames .
Must be able to operate intrinsically safe vacuum cleaner and attachments .
Communicate findings, identifying potential causes, and correction steps to maintenance of safety equipment such as guarding .
Combustible dust cleaning of all upper areas throughout facility and tower.
This includes overhead pipes, support beams, equipment, ceilings, etc.
A-SAFE rail cleaning weekly includes cleaning of all pedestrian walkway areas.
Chemical Waste area cleaning includes emptying, crushing and disposing of used drums. Also requires handling waste chemicals and preparing for shipment .
Outside cleaning weekly of all areas to include silos, bag houses, dock areas, dumpsters, chillers and parking lots .
Painting and striping pedestrian crosswalk areas .
Establishing and marking lift truck aisles .
Hanging safety and environmental signs, mirrors, etc....
Minor maintenance repairs/tasks relating to EHS .
Operating sweeper/scrubber as needed in addition to being certified for lift trucks, scissor lifts and boom lifts.
Execute proactive maintenance plans on assigned equipment .
Execute assigned or scheduled work orders in support of safety corrective actions and process improvements (PIs) identified to maintain compliance .
Work normally scheduled days adhering to starting and stopping times . Work may be scheduled during non-production hours (second shift & weekends).
Able to work independently at a safe fast pace .
Work overtime as required .
Communicate any problem or concerns to Manager in a timely fashion.
Must maintain a clean and safe work area .
Perform all duties using safe work methods.
Comply with Corporate absenteeism and tardiness policy .
Other duties assigned by management.
CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Safety practices - LOTO, PPE, PIT/Aerial Lift, Fall Protection,
- Calculator and Computer application – work order documentation, parts requisitioning
- Measurement units, techniques and application of appropriate tools
- Math skills to include: Arithmetic, Application of formulas, Conversion of measurement units.
- Identification and proper use of tools, focused on selection of the right tool for work assignment application.
Shift: Mon-Fri 7am-3pm
Work Shift
8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
