Process Engineer/Sr Process Engineer

Position Overview

Shaw Industries is looking for a Process Engineer/Sr Process Engineer to work at a state-of-the-art hard surfaces flooring production facility in the Profile Milling and SPC Regrind Depts. This is a continuous running line that converts extruded material to plank goods and utilizes automated packaging systems to produce finished, boxed, and palletized goods. This position will also manage process improvement initiatives with specific consideration to the engineering perspectives and skills to support projects/activities of the Plant RP facility. This is a fast paced and high exposure position that requires strong problem-solving abilities and manufacturing floor presence.

Responsibilities:

• Requirement of various troubleshooting skills and the ability to make quick sound decisions.

• Responsible for reviewing and disposition of quality, including root cause analysis and prevention.

• Submit expense and capital projects for future machine modifications.

• Coordinate trials with R&D.

• Work closely with both Corporate and site engineering to maintain the integrity of the mechanics of the line.

• Maintain Six Sigma projects utilizing appropriate tools for asset reliability improvement, downtime reduction, etc.

• Develop relationships with manufacturing technical, research and development as well as other departments at RP to ensure improvements.

• Provide effective and timely reports for the facility and corporate management. Collect, analyze, and make recommendations using financial reports and Engineering tools to drive improvement and cost reductions.

• Organize and execute assigned projects while maintaining records on the projects and develop training documentation for new and existing processes to include the writing of work instructions.

• Build relationships with all associates to be able to coach, train and develop using tools of Operational Excellence.

• Management of co-op support.

• Meet with management teams to ensure progress towards facility goals.

Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree required; Engineering Degree preferred.

• Previous Process or Project Engineering Experience.

• Understanding of computer software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Minitab, Google, etc.

• Ability to present information in professional and user-friendly manner

• Strong quantitative & communication skills (Oral, written, & presentation to individuals & groups)

• Ability to manage multiple projects and work without close Supervision

• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred

• Previous Continuous Line or Milling experience preferred
