Position Overview

Position Objective: To run the finishing and defecting lines safely and efficiently with the maximum amount of production and a minimal amount of off-quality. Works closely with shift supervisor and helps direct finishing department toward production and quality standards

Essential Duties: (Considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge and responsibility):

  1. Serving as the liaison between the shift supervisor and the finishing department employees.

  2. Making machine/process adjustments online and on the computer.

  3. Following specific instructions on each order.

  4. Locate available decks in the shop floor system for upcoming orders prior to changing over and ensure these decks get consumed.

  5. Achieving set quality standards.

  6. Monitoring parameters such as speed, UV output and temperature.

  7. Adjust settings to accommodate different board sizes.

  8. Overall visual control of the entire line.

  9. Ensure UV Mark detector is operating properly prior to start of shift.

10.Visual inspections of products for defects and grading.

  1. Completing computerized quality reports.

    1. Inspect planks every hour looking for lines in planks

    2. Communicate with QC technician hourly on box audit findings

  2. Maintaining operation of packaging equipment.

  3. Performing quality tests on products. Involvement in safety meetings

  4. Must be able to perform color technician duties in case of an emergency

  5. Responsible for filling in for other line technicians when needed

  6. Working with and managing logs/records of usage.

  7. Troubleshooting with product specifications.

  8. Keeping machines and work areas clean and free of dust.

21.Reading and analyzing charts and graphs.

  1. Taking measurements and working with SPC charts.

  2. Ensure proper rotation among all employees.

  3. Update production charts and communication boards.

  4. Ensure open communication between departments and shifts.

  5. Various tasks as assigned by the supervisor or department manager.

  6. Willing to be an On the Job Trainer (OJT)

Non-Essential Duties: (Considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge and responsibility):

  1. Must be a team player

  2. Must effectively provide leadership in finishing department

  3. Must set a positive example for department

  4. Must communicate effectively with all management personnel

  5. Must take a leadership role in committees.

  6. Cross-training for other jobs on the finishing line.

  7. Serve as fill in for supervisors during absences.

  8. Serve as lead for off shift during absences.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to bend, squat, and stoop several times a day.

  2. Must be able to stand for 8 – 12 hours a day.

  3. Must be able to climb stairs several times throughout the day.

  4. Must be able to assist in lifting up to 75 lbs. several times a day.

  5. Must be able to lift 35-50 lbs. on a regular basis throughout the day.

  6. Must be able to handle the stress of meeting goals and production requirements. 7. Must be able to visualize defects in the product.

  7. Must be able to visualize color defects in the product.

Other Requirements:

  1. Basic reading, writing, and math ability.

  2. Must be capable of being trained on current computer systems and software.

  3. Must be able to operate a lift truck once trained.

  4. Must be capable of learning and performing additional operations.

  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  6. Previous leadership experience preferred

Training Requirements:

  1. On the job training

  2. Must have all OSHA, SAFE, SMS, and plant specific training.

  3. Lift Truck training

  4. Training on current plant computer systems and software.

Tool, Equipment, & Material Requirements:

  1. Safety Glasses

  2. PPE listed on JHA

Safety & Security Requirements:

  1. Must comply with all required OSHA, SAFE, and plant specific safety rules and regulations.

  2. Refer to the Plant JHA (Job Hazard Analysis) for this job for the prevention of accidents.

Work Shift

10 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts PM
