Quality Manager - Savannah Distribution Operations

Position Overview

Our Corporate Quality Managers will manage and direct the day to day hard surfaces quality assurance and quality compliance process at the Savannah Distribution Operations, as it relates to claims resolution, replacement order fulfillment, inventory management and control, product and packaging compliance and quality disposition. Under the direction of the HSQC Directors, provide quality support for Global Sourcing, Distribution/Logistics, Financial Services, Customer Service and Sales in these endeavors. This position directly supervises the Savannah HS Quality team to include Quality Technicians and QA LTO positions and is directly supervised by the Hard Surface Quality Directors.

What you'll be doing:

  • Work with the Hard Surface Quality Directors and QA Compliance Director to create and deploy tactical systems designed to enhance and control the HS inventory QA and compliance processes in order to promote increased customer service and satisfaction

  • Continually audit and assess the HS inventory at the Savannah Distribution Centers and provide feedback on product quality, packaging, storage and handling to HS Quality Directors, QA Compliance Director, Global Sourcing and China Quality team

  • Work directly with Savannah Distribution personnel to resolve inventory discrepancies and with QA Compliance to remove quality holds

  • Coordinate and conduct the troubleshooting of hard surface product quality claims, complaints, and field chatter and investigate inventory for the purpose of root cause analysis as well as claim and product disposition

  • With special regard to Home Center products, act as release and disposition authority for new and existing products as it relates to product storage, packaging, labeling, identification and delivery

  • Maintain a system for the storage, retrieval, maintenance, and management of finished product standards used in product audits and inspections at the Savannah Operations

  • Perform and assist in performing the day to day Hard Surfaces inventory QA functions:

  • Coordinate product “searches” where particular lots or visuals are sought on behalf of customer claims/complaints/orders

  • Manage and keep an accurate inventory of products that are quarantined and/or on hold

  • Coordinate efforts to find “similar matches” too hard surface products for customer assistance

  • Coordinate the verification and inspection of incoming new products and suspect production

  • Serve as site quality contact for product arriving from ports whenever special attention or priority is needed for a particular shipment

  • Serve as disposition authority for Savannah Distribution Operations when the material is received that is damaged/wet/mis-labeled/mis-packaged/mis-identified, etc.

  • Monitor and fill replacement orders for product shipped directly from Savannah Distribution Centers and create and maintain a controlled process by which this is accomplished and managed

  • Organize and lead projects for the assessment and subsequent rework of material that arrives at the Savannah Distribution Centers - inspect, test, re-box, re-label, repair, sort, cull or otherwise evaluate - to include the design of the rework process and supervision of the employees performing the work

  • Work on special, smaller scope quality and compliance-related projects in support of our internal business partners

  • Gather information from the company mainframe computer using G-Link and utilize this information to accomplish the duties above

  • Be able to make decisions, problem-solve, communicate and work well with others

  • Attendance is an essential function of the job - must comply with corporate absenteeism and tardiness policy

  • Ensure the department/employees are working in a safe, cost-effective and environmentally-sound manner at all times

Position requirements:

  • Must be able to perform Quality Technician job duties

  • Must be proficient in the use of a computer – specifically, well-versed in using G-Link and other local Shaw information systems and platforms and knowledgeable in Google and Microsoft Office products

  • Must be able to motivate, guide and occasionally discipline direct reports

  • Must be able to work effectively without continuous guidance or direct supervision

  • Must be able to communicate effectively

  • Four-year college degree is required.

  • Must complete on the job training

  • Must complete any other job, safety or quality-related training as needed

  • Must complete LTO training program

8 hour, day shift
