Position Overview
Shaw Industries is looking for an Extrusion Department Manager to oversee the strategic leadership, overall direction, and support of the Plant 22 Extrusion Department. They will proactively drive all aspects of the safety of associates, the quality of the product, and on time delivery expectations of our customers.
The successful candidate must have a passion for safety, be able to foster strong working relationships built upon trust and respect with direct reports, peers, and leaders, demonstrate and train associates, and be viewed as a clear and credible communicator and resource.

Responsibilities :
Directly supervise the Extrusion Process Engineer and shift supervisors. Indirectly lead all hourly associates in the 24/7 manufacturing operation.
Guide engineers and projects to focus on continuous improvement of department performance metrics; Safety, Quality, Waste, Productivity, Cost, and Morale.
Address associate concerns and issues and maintain favorable and effective relations among associates.
Motivate supervisors to ensure consistent, equal and fair treatment of their associates while maintaining fair and balanced accountability to the expectations of the departments' objectives.
Promote a culture of safety through monitoring and maintaining safe work practices, injury prevention and promoting and maintaining workplace organization. Support the Fibers safety culture of Find it - Fix it - Follow up.
Ensure the department is operating utilizing the Shaw Management System (SMS) and all quality requirements and procedures are documented, and daily execution is in line with the documented work instructions.
Develop a positive relationship with our customers ensuring we are responsive to their needs.
Foster and coordinate initiatives to develop a continuous improvement manufacturing culture.
Assure all company policies and procedures are communicated and complied with by all plant employees.
Assess the performance of associates with regard s to efficiency, teamwork, interpersonal skill, safety, attendance and quality, then coaches, disciplines employees in accordance with company personnel policies.
Plan and prioritize production to meet production schedule through appropriate staffing levels.
Ensure associates are trained in accordance with department standards.
Assist in the development of annual operating and capital budgets and be able to explain variances and when spending forecasts need to be changed. Manage budget throughout the year to ensure effective use of all resources.
Qualifications :
4 year degree required (Engineering Degree Preferred)
5+ years manufacturing management (Process Engineer, Supervisor, or Department Manager) experience preferred
Must possess good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Proficient usage of computer skills (Microsoft office applications, reporting systems, communication applications, etc.)
